Government Ordinance no. 43, on the extension of the deadline for submissions of the annual declaration regarding the real beneficial owner (UBO) of a legal person, as provided for in art. 56 para. (4) of Law no. 129/2019 on the prevention and combating of money laundering and terrorist financing, as well as on the amendment and supplementation of various normative acts, was published in the Official Gazette of Romania on 31 May 2021 and entered into force on 3 June 2021.
The main changes introduced include:
- an extension of the submission deadline for UBO declarations until 1 October 2021;
- the possibility to submit a UBO declaration as a document under private signature or in electronic format, by electronic means, with electronic signature or by post or courier service;
- the declaration can also be made before a representative of the Trade Register or submitted in person or via a representative (with the date being certified a notary public or attested by a lawyer).
