The General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest voted on 26 February 2021 to suspend for a period of 12 months the Zonal Urban Development Plans (PUZ) for five of the city’s six administrative sectors, namely Sectors 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

With no new PUZ having been adopted in Sector 1, there was no plan to suspend for this sector.

According to the Decision of the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest building/demolition permits already issued before 26 February 2021 are not affected by the suspension, they remain valid.

Moreover, the suspensions do not apply to urban planning certificates issued for the purpose of obtaining building/demolition permits, nor to building/demolition permits in the process of being issued, which will continue to be governed by the otherwise suspended zonal urban development plans of the sectors in question.

With regard to the building permits issued during the measure of suspension of the coordinating PUZs, they will have to comply with the provisions of the urban planning documents prior to the suspension decisions.
