Tax Manager
Job Summary
As Tax Manager at TPA Romania, Bucharest Office, you will play a key role in managing complex VAT advisory and compliance engagements, while contributing to the strategic growth of our tax practice.
Leveraging your solid expertise in VAT/indirect taxes, you will be actively involved in providing tailored tax advice to a wide range of clients and will act as a trusted advisor in the current dynamic environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage complex engagements, primarily in the area of VAT/indirect taxes (knowledge of other tax areas is not a requirement but can be a plus).
- Advise clients across industries on VAT matters in a large number of projects such as M&A, reviews and due diligence, contract analysis, tax audits, compliance etc.
- Oversee and ensure the quality, consistency and technical accuracy of all client deliverables, in line with internal standards and professional best practices.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and liaise with client representatives and the tax authorities.
- Monitor VAT legislative developments and jurisprudence and assess their impact on clients, proactively communicating relevant changes and practical implications.
- Contribute to business development initiatives by identifying new opportunities, participating in proposals and strengthening long-term client relationships.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of junior and senior tax professionals, ensuring high standards of client service, knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
- Collaborate across service lines to deliver integrated solutions.
- Continuously develop technical and consulting skills through on-the-job experience and formal training programs.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in VAT/indirect tax advisory, ideally within a Big 4 or top-tier consulting firm.
- Strong knowledge of Romanian VAT legislation and procedures (knowledge in other tax areas is a welcome plus, but not a requirement).
- Hands-on experience in VAT advisory, compliance and tax audits/disputes.
- Ability to manage multiple client relationships and deliver projects within deadlines and budgets.
- Strong leadership, people management and mentoring skills.
- Independent and business-oriented, with a pragmatic approach to solving complex issues.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or Economics; ACCA / CCF / ADIT certification is a plus.
- Excellent written and spoken Romanian and English.
