Accounting Manager

Job summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and coordinating the delivery of accounting and statutory reporting services in compliance with Romanian regulations. The role involves supervising team members, reviewing accounting work, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring that all deliverables are accurate, complete and submitted within deadlines.

The Accounting Manager also contributes to the development of the team and supports the consistent application of internal standards and procedures.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise the activity of senior and junior accountants for assigned clients
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of accounting records, financial statements and statutory reports
  • Review accounting work, reconciliations and reporting packages prepared by the team
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of statutory financial statements and related filings to Romanian authorities
  • Manage the relationship with clients, including correspondence, regular meetings and presentations
  • Provide clients with relevant financial information and practical guidance on accounting and reporting matters
  • Maintain communication with tax authorities, external auditors, banks and other institutions
  • Monitor and implement changes in Romanian accounting and tax legislation
  • Plan, allocate and monitor team workload, adjusting priorities as needed
  • Support the development of team members through guidance, feedback and on-the-job coaching
  • Conduct performance evaluations for staff under supervision
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, professional standards and quality requirements
  • Actively involved in improving the delivery of accounting services, including the automation of processes using various tools.
  • Foster efficiency in the work environment while balancing proactivity, clients’ needs and colleagues’ capabilities.

Requirements

  • University degree in Economics, Accounting or Finance
  • CECCAR qualification is mandatory and other professional qualifications (e.g. ACCA) represent an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of Romanian Accounting Standards and the Fiscal Code
  • Solid experience in statutory accounting, financial reporting and compliance processes
  • Relevant experience in a similar role, including team coordination and client portfolio management
  • Good understanding of IFRS
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage client relationships in a professional and structured manner
  • Proven people management skills, including coordination, mentoring and performance evaluation
  • Professional integrity and a responsible, solution-oriented approach.
